Dear NCCUPA-HR Member:
First, let me express my, and the NCCUPA-HR Board of Director’s, sincerest gratitude for your support of our state chapter in 2008-2009. We could not have a chapter, nor provide the quality programs and services that we do, if not for your membership. NCCUPA-HR is the premier college and university human resource outlet in North Carolina and the board continues its pledge to bring you the strongest professional development experience possible.
With that said, we are now ready to move into the ’09-’10 year. On July 1, a new membership year begins for NCCUPA-HR and fresh opportunities abound for you and the associates you work with at your school.
Very soon, a member of the NCCUPA-HR Board will be calling you to solicit your continued membership in the chapter. Dues will remain at $25 per individual member, which also makes your institution a member. We look forward to having you as a returning member!
I would be remiss if I did not mention a major adjustment in this year’s programming. As you are aware - and I hope you have attended it – our flagship program is the annual Fall Conference held in October. This two-and-a-half day event is known for its quality speakers and networking opportunities. Well, with travel budgets restricted (or in some cases, cut completely) the Board has decided to postpone this year’s conference and hold two, FREE one-day Workshops instead. The Workshops are scheduled for October 16 in Hickory, and October 30 in Raleigh. We hope that splitting these workshops into two locations will significantly ease your travel expenses. I urge you to log on to our website to view the agenda for the Workshops, and other pertinent information, which should be posted soon.
Please know that we are committed to restoring the Fall Conference to our slate of programs in the future. For this year, the Board felt that the risks to the chapter’s financial stability was too great to gamble with, and we want to insure our ability to offer top-quality speakers at the conference, while remaining an affordable attraction to our members. With the aforementioned travel restrictions, we felt that attendance would be severely compromised this year, and the resulting loss of revenue may very well have affected our ability to hold future conferences. This way, we can offer a free day of quality programming, and improve our chances of resuming the Fall Conference in 2010.
Again, we thank you for your support and commitment to the North Carolina College and University Professional Association for Human Resources and we look forward to seeing you in October.
Sincerely,
Rick Nichols,
NCCUPA-HR President
